FAQ
Would a sky train hold more than a lil hombre?
The Lil Hombre actually offers a bit more capacity and dimensions than the Sky Train, but only by a small margin.
Lil Hombre Capacity: 2,478 Cubic Inches or 40 Liters Dimensions: 19"L x 13"W x 10"H Sky Train Capacity: 2,340 cubic inches or 38 Liters Dimensions: 20"L x 13"H x 9"W
Is there a waist strap available for Skytrain? Padded waist strap help reduce shoulder strain.
The Sky Train was not designed to operate with a waist strap. However, one could use a pair of Luggage Compression Straps to cinch down the bag from the outside. Wrap one strap around the top, about 4-6 inches down, and the second strap further down, about 4-6 inches from the bottom. The top strap, if cinched tighter than the bottom strap, will pull the pack closer to your upper body, relieving excessive weight from the pack on your hips.
Another option is to take a belt, any belt will do, and thread it through the holes in the smuggler's pocket at the base of the bag where the backpack straps attach to the bag. While not a very comfortable way to travel, using a belt this way can also relieve some weight off the hips. The best solution however, is to focus on traveling light and not over pack your Sky Train. Use the internal cinch straps to hold your belongings in place and minimize wrinkles.
The Sky Train does however come standard with the Yoke Sternum Chest Strap which helps balance your backpack or rucksack load, equalizing the weight on both shoulders.
Inside colors?
All colors of The Sky Train come standard with 400 Denier Nylon Lined Red Pack Cloth lining the main interior: the bright red lining means you can see inside your bag and find what you need, and the lining is luxury smooth and easy to clean.

The Sky Train is a great versatile carry-on sized bag with the flexibility to use as a traditional bag or a backpack. This is great if you need to walk a fair distance to nearby accommodations or to the airport, train station, or other transport.
Had mine for 15 years and a 1000 trips. NYC - AFG - going strong. There is no bag tougher or more versatile. Buy this one. I have take this thing on trains, C-130s, and just about anywhere. It is bulletproof, nothing rips. I put almost 80 lbs of gear in it and hauled it up 15,000 ft. Backpack, sling it, whatever. It is worth every penny.
I reviewed this bag when I first got it several years ago, but after much more use, I had to review it again!;;I recently went (as a tourist) to Antarctica for two weeks, and I only took two bags -- the Sky Train and the Gator. The Sky Train is such a bottomless pit that I was able to pack all the clothing and gear I needed, plus an extra pair of shoes, and I even had a little room left over!
I've used this bag daily well over a decade across three continents. It's my carry on every time I get on a plane. It's my work bag every work day. It's my tool bag when I need one. It's my grocery bag. It's really my do everything bag.
On first trip in Puerto Rico and loving it.
