Entrepreneur Discovers the Utility of Carry-on Travel
Jeff Williams has been a fan of Red Oxx bags for many years, amassing a small collection. In fact he claims he’s a 'bagaholic' and that his wife said if he 'buys one more'…. It wasn’t until he struck out on his own 'self-employed' for his business Yellowtec that he discovered the handy-dandy efficiency of soft-sided luggage.
Jeff’s been instrumental in leaving thoughtful product reviews on our website so we asked him if he would write about his favorite Red Oxx Bag. Here’s Jeff’s story and a few tips about packing. For his efforts at his behest, we sent him a Saffron color Market Tote (probably to appease his wife…).
Just over four years ago I became self-employed and a road warrior. This means I’m on the road, flying or on a train two to three times a month. I learned really fast that buying what is supposedly called a 'Carry-on' sized luggage at a big box store wasn’t truthful advertising. Let me say I had to gate-check this particular bag enough times to force me to do an online search titled 'Lightest Carry-on Bag'.
I found a blog which mentioned the high quality of Red Oxx Bags. After studying all the different styles of truthfully carry-on sized bags Red Oxx has to offer I purchased a Sky Train. Automatically the Sky Train became my go-to bag.
Favorite Features
The Sky Train Euro handles are very natural feeling, the open design between the two compartments are absolutely perfect along with the ability to use or stow the backpack straps, which are very comfortable by the way.
Fast-forward to today and not only do I have the Sky Train but have recently taken possession of a Mini Boss and over time purchased their Nomad Shave Kit plus a few Red Oxx Lil Roys to hold some of my demonstration pieces, pens, extra business cards, etc.
In fact the Lil Roys were so popular at the various business events and noticed by my colleagues, I purchased over 60 of them through Red Oxx’s exclusive Corporate Program. Red Oxx embroidered our company logo on the bags to give to key customers and business partners.
Typical Use of My Red Oxx Bags for Business Travel:
My Sky Train carries six days of clothing in Red Oxx’s Bushbaby packing cubes, my toiletries, thirty 16-page brochures also in a Bushbaby and a Nomad Shave Kit with my company’s demonstration parts. My Mini Boss contains a water bottle, Bose headphones, 12-inch Mac Book, letter-sized paper note book, various power cables, Lil Roy with demonstration items, and a pair of shoes packed in a Red Oxx Armadilla small-sized packing cube.
Some final points I’d like to share.
First – these bags are tough-as-nails and are built-to-last.
Secondly – it’s your fault if you pack too heavy because these bags can take it, but maybe you can’t.
