Red Oxx has been on the lookout for a prospective company Ambassador for some time, someone who would represent the brand in their world travels and offer interesting advice and tips on traveling. One day out of the beautiful big sky blue, the perfect choice popped up here in our own backyard when wouldn’t you know it, we weren’t even looking. Katie Jackson approached us about reviewing a bag for a local publication. So impressed with her vim and vigor, and genuine fun and funny writing, we decided to ask her if she would like to become our first official Red Oxx Ambassador.
What is a Red Oxx Ambassador and What Do They Do?
A Red Oxx Ambassador should be someone with high energy, lots of travel experience, combined with unique and engaging writing skills. Red Oxx couldn’t have asked for a better match. Katie had even worked in-house Public Relations for Austin Adventures, a local award-winning travel booking company we partnered with.
So after meeting with Red Oxx CEO Jim Markel and touring our factory, we loaded her up with a Tres Hombres, our three compartment, compression-strapped, convertible backpack carry-on bag, and sent her on her merry way. Ladies and Gentlemen, in her own words, meet Katie.
Katie and Zeus in Billings.
Katie talks . . . about Katie
Katie Jackson doesn’t get the wanderlust travel bug from her parents. They’re quite content living the peaceful farm life in rural Montana. At a naive 16 years of age, the Montana native went to Google and asked "Where is the most diverse place in the world?" The search engine’s results led her to attend college at the far end of the continent at St. John’s University in New York City. There she acquired a marketing degree, started a career in public relations on Park Avenue, and returned to her tiny apartment in Queens — home to more than 130 spoken languages — every night.
39 Countries and Counting
After living in Rome, Paris, Dublin, and Red Oxx has been on the lookout for a prospective company Ambassador for some time, someone who would represent the brand in their world travels and offer interesting advice and tips on traveling. Katie is still barely bilingual. However she can boast of visiting five continents and dozens of countries, that is, if she was a prideful person. Alas, she’s not. Unless of course, she’s talking about her adopted dog, Zeus – a 150 pound Leonberger with a noticeable under-bite.
